Teams involved in the project

23 February 2016 ( maj : 4 November 2016 ), by Vincent Favier

The project is based on a consortium of scientists that have a large expertise in glacier observation, climate modeling and in the collection and analysis of ice core records. This consortium is built on 3 partners:

  1. LGGE (Laboratoire de Glaciologie et de Géophysique de l’Environnement,) has built its scientific reputation on its research dealing with paleoclimate studies (deep ice core studies) and has important field experience in Antarctica, in close collaboration with the French polar institute (IPEV). It is also one of the leaders in the modeling of ice cap SMB and dynamics. PI: V. Favier, Joseph Fourier
  2. LSCE (Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement), has a well recognized expertise in the study of climate dynamics using state of the art techniques to reconstruct and quantify past climate changes, in particular from water isotopes in ice archives. PI: V. Masson Delmotte, CEA.
  3. LEGOS (Laboratoire d’Etudes en Géophysique et Océanographie Spatiales) is one of the leaders in studying the environment from satellite, with particularly high expertise in the study of the crysophere. PI: F. Rémy, CNRS.

The project will need specific skills and coordination with IPEV (who will provide logistical supply)
